Sheet Music: The Rose of No Man's Land

Old sheet music is a great collectible and many nurses collect sheet music with songs and images of nurses. Both the lyrics and illustrations can be subjects of content analysis for historical research or they can simply be enjoyed as a unique artifact.

The example above was published in 1918 by Leo Feist, New York. The lyrics, by Jack Caddigan, cite the virtue of the nurse.

It's the one red rose the soldier knows,
It's the work of the Master's hand;
'Mid the war's great curse stands the Red Cross Nurse,
She's the rose of "No Man's Land".
