2026 AAHN Board of Directors Nominations

The American Association for the History of Nursing (AAHN) is excited to announce that nominations are now open for positions on our Board of Directors for the 2026–2028 term. Serving on the Board is a great opportunity to contribute to AAHN’s mission and help shape the future of the organization.

Open Positions (Two-Year Terms)

  • President

  • 2nd Vice President, Chair, Program

  • Treasurer, Chair, Finance

  • Director, Chair, Awards

  • Director, Chair, Bylaws and Policy

  • Director, Chair, Communications

  • Director, Chair, Research Review

  • Nominating Committee (2 positions open)

Board Responsibilities

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be an individual member in good standing for at least 2 years (years do not need to be consecutive).

  • Officer positions (President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer) require prior AAHN Board experience.

  • Committee service (committee, sub-committee, or taskforce) is preferred before joining the Board.

  • Certain Director positions (Awards, Research Review) have additional requirements in Article VII – Standing Committees, Sections 3.B and 7.B.

Term Limits

  • The AAHN Board consists of 5 officers and 8 directors.

  • Officers/Directors may serve in the same office for up to 2 consecutive terms (4 years).

  • If you are currently in your first term in one of the open positions, please consider running for a second term!

How to Submit a Nomination

  1. Complete the Nomination Form by April 12, 2026.

  2. Prepare a candidate statement (under 75 words) before starting the form.

  3. Upload a headshot to the form.
