Oral Histories of African-American Midwives Collection: Opening Celebration
March 26th Smith College The Sophia Smith Collection of women's history at Smith College Special Collections is thrilled to be hosting a panel discussion on Thursday, March 26 at 6 pm EDT to celebrate the opening of the Linda Janet Holmes oral histories of African-American midwives collection! Inspired by the more than 40 oral history interviews Holmes conducted with Black midwives across Alabama in 1981, distinguished guests Linda Holmes, Byllye Avery, and Dr. Nikia Grayson will discuss the roots of Black midwifery and its legacy in the birthing justice movement today.
